The Hoon has left the building. It's a shame to see him go, but considering the crap he had to put up with it's not so surprising. Now that he's gone, I'm left in a position where I have no buffer between what I do and the insane amount of political bitching that goes on in that place. But I'm no where near as confrontational as he is so I'm hoping I'll be OK, but I can see it's going to be very frustrating getting anything done now. Our new CIO is using the Waterfall model for chrissakes.
How the hell can you know in advance the best way to do something without actually doing it first? Not a good way to innovate. The design document usually changed so much during development anyway that it becomes a different thing altogether. Kind of defeats the purpose IMO.
Friday night we had drinks at some crappy commercial pub in the city. After we were all fairly sloshed, I suggested The Civic as they usually have good music playing and plenty of hot chicks. But it didn't really work out that way.
A friend of mine showed up after needing an excuse to get away from a boring party (I was sick and on my own and needed help apparently). Long story short, he suggested my usual watering hole and we started walking up. On the way, we passed the party he left and somehow we ended up going in.
It was some old queens 40th birthday, lots of gay guys and a few chicks. It was alright, not great. Everyone from my original crew (these are people from work BTW) decided to keep going to the Columbian, but on the way out someone took me aside to get a few numbers out of my phone. This took about 10 minutes and the people from work were gone by the time I got downstairs. A quick search of The Columbian revealed nothing.
God only knows what became of them. They didn't get to see how famous I was though by coming to the Columbian with me.
I heard someone say they went to Platinum, a strip joint in the city. If that's the case then I wouldn't have gone anyway. I like my chicks free :-)
A whole day to recover, then today was Karin and Larissa's Australia Day beach party at Red leaf pool which was fabulous. Except that it was in the harbour, and I'm sure my immune system is in overdrive at the moment.
About to kick off another night at the Columbian now as soon as I finish writing this post. Another night of mayhem.
Yup, my politics buffer was definitely full and causing overflow errors!
Cannot face going for the other role, so will just be going for rides and sketching till I get so poor I that will have to face hussling for some work..

It was great fun while it lasted tho, really hope can come up with a model for us working in the foss space so we can both afford cool hoon machines!
