Oran, breakdowns and dissapointment · 2008-06-03 15:06
I was supposed to go back to Oran Park last weekend, but my bike had other plans. Riding to work Friday - the day before - it seemed to just pop out of gear and not go back. Nothing I could do would produce traction! Had to get Ghost riders to come and pick me up. I've used them before, but the super nice people at Bike biz know the guy really well and got him to do a "love job". Luckily he didn't want a love job from me because I had cash that day. Got it into the shop, turned out that a lock nut had come off the front sprocket.
The training day I went on last month included a few laps in front of the instructor who had a video camera mounted on his helmet. This was really cool, because one can see their mistakes from a different perspective, and even mistakes one didn't know one made. What suprised me most about the video the dude made of me though, was how far over I wasn't leaning! When you're actually on the track, going around those corners at around 100kmph and it feels like you're reefing on the handlebars so much that you're going to scrape your knee, only to find out later on that you're not even at a 45°, it kind of brings home just how much you still have to learn. That's why I can't wait to get back to the track, It's a limit I really want to push and the track is the only place for it, really.
