So life is going pretty well for me lately. I've got a new contract at BigPond working on their AAA systems. It's quite a mess as you can imagine, but necessarily so. There are so many interconnecting bits that simply cannot be bought together. We handle accounts for about 6 different types of internet connection (dialup, cable, HSDPA etc).

Things with Michelle are going really great too. We're in a good rhythm in our lives right now, it's really cruisy.

We've just instituted a 2 month de-tox program. Actually it's more of a wager.

No smoking or drinking whatsoever for 2 months.

The wager? $2large paid to whoever doesn't give in. That would make it the most costly cigarette/beer of all time if one of us capitulated.

I think part of the reason it's so cruisy for us is the budgeting system we use. It's basically pure socialism. I earn more, but we both pay exactly the same percentage of our wages towards living costs. The reason it works is that I still get to live in the manner to which I've become accustomed (I'm over student-style digs), and Mish doesn't have to pay what would be basically all her spare money just to live in a nice place.

I've been in situations like that before and the one without money ends up resenting having to pay more to suit the other's taste.
