It's an interesting life after all · 2010-01-27 10:15
I haven't really had the will to update lately, so many things are going on with my training that I'm still getting my head around it all. There's many aspects to this kung-fu business: Physical training, learning and perfecting the basic moves, philosophy, massage, stretching... if I tried to blog about it at the moment I'd only butcher the explanation.
It will have to do for now to write that I've definitely got a new direction in life going. 10-11 years ago, I made the decision that I was going to become an awesome programmer. I think I've pretty much got that covered now, by my own reckoning. It's hard to say that without feeling like I have my head up my own arse, but I base that measurement on things like level of challenge, ease of getting work, pay, acceptance of my work by peers etc.
It's been a long path to get to the skill level I have today, and the challenge just isn't there any more. What's left in life? Get married, get a mortgage and start having babys? Live the white picket fence dream? 6 months ago the choice was either continue to have a shit lifestyle (basically partying all the time) or do the breeder thing.
Something new and totally worthy of dedication has come up!
